英语初学者美文：哭泣的王子
The eyes happy prince was filled with tears, and tears were running down his golden cheeks. His face was so beautiful in the moonlight, that the little swallow was filled with pity.
快乐王子的双眼充满了泪水，泪珠顺着他金黄的脸颊淌了下来。王子的脸在月光下美丽无比，小燕子顿生怜悯之心。
Who are you ? he said.
你是谁?他问对方。
I am the happy prince.
我是快乐王子。
Why are you weeping then? asked swallow. You have quite drench to me .
那么你为什么哭呢?燕子又问，你把我的身上都打湿了。
When I was alive , and I had a human heart, answered the statue, I did not know what the tears were for I lived in the palace of sans souci where sorrow is not allowed to enter. In the daytime, I played with my companions in the garden, and in the evening ,I let the bans in the great hall. Round the garden, when the vary lot of war, but I never care to ask what they beyond it, everything about me was so beautiful. My cottiers called me the happy prince, the happy indeed I was, if pleasure be happiness. So i lived and so I died. And now ,that I am dead, they have setting me up here so high, but I can see all the upness, and all the misery of my city. even though, my heart is made of lead , but I can not choose but weep.
以前在我有颗人心而活着的时候，雕像开口说道，我并不知道眼泪是什么东西，因为那时我住在逍遥自在的王宫里，那是个哀愁无法进去的地方。白天人们伴着我在花园里玩，晚上我在大厅里领头跳舞。沿着花园有一堵高高的围墙，可我从没想到去围墙那边有什么东西，我身边的一切太美好了。我的臣仆们都叫我快乐王子，的确，如果欢愉就是快乐的话，那我真是快乐无比。我就这么活着，也这么死去。而眼下我死了，他们把我这么高高地立在这儿，使我能看见自己城市中所有的丑恶和贫苦，尽管我的心是铅做的，可我还是忍不住要哭。

The next day the Swallow flew down to the harbour. He sat on the mast of a large vessel and watched the sailors hauling big chests out of the hold with ropes. "Heave a hoy!" they shouted as each chest came up. "I am going to Egypt!" cried the Swallow, but nobody minded, and when the moon rose he flew back to the Happy Prince.
第二天，燕子飞到下面的海港。他停落在一条大船的桅杆上，望着水手们用绳索把大箱子拉出船舱。伴着他们“嘿哟!嘿哟!”的号子声，大箱子也一个个被拉了上来。“ 我准备去埃及了!”燕子喊道，可是没有人在意他。当月亮升起后，他便飞回到快乐王子的身边。
I am come to bid you good-bye," he cried.
我是来和你道别的，”他叫着说。
Swallow, Swallow, little Swallow," said the Prince, "will you not stay with me one night longer?"
燕子，燕子，小燕子，”王子说，“你不能再陪我一晚吗?”
It is winter," answered the Swallow, "and the chill snow will soon be here. In Egypt the sun is warm on the green palm-trees, and the crocodiles lie in the mud and look lazily about them. My companions are building a nest in the Temple of Baalbec, and the pink and white doves are watching them, and cooing to each other."
冬天来了，”燕子答道，“这儿不久就要被冰雪覆盖。而在埃及，温暖的阳光照在翠绿的棕榈树上，鳄鱼们躺在泥沼中，懒洋洋地环视着周围。我的伙伴们正在巴尔贝克古城的神庙里筑巢，那些粉红和白色的鸽子们一边望着他们劳动，一边咕咕地互诉衷情。
Dear Prince, I must leave you, but I will never forget you, and next spring I will bring you back two beautiful jewels in place of those you have given away. The ruby shall be redder than a rose, and the sapphire shall be as blue as the great sea."
亲爱的王子，我必须离开你了，但我永远都不会忘记你的，明年春天我会带两颗美丽的宝石给你，弥补你失掉的那几颗，红宝石会比红玫瑰更娇艳，蓝宝石会和碧海一样湛蓝。
