My Hometown
My hometown lies on the Plain of North China. The famous Grand Canal of China is to the east of our village. This is the place where my forefathers have lived for generations. When I was a boy I often played with other children near the bank of the canal. I watched the passing boats, and I wished to travel all over the world.
我的家乡位于华北平原。中国著名的京杭大运河是我们村庄的东边。这是我的祖先们世世代代居住的地方。当我还是个小孩时,我经常和别的孩子在运河的岸边上玩耍。我看着过往的船只,我想环游世界。
There are about 800 people in our village. A pond, teeming with fish, lies in front of the village. I used to swim there in summer and skate in winter. It was in this pond that I spent the happiest days of my childhood.
我们村子大约有800人。村子前面的一个池塘里充满着鱼。夏天的时候，我过去常常在那里游泳在，冬天的时候就滑冰。我童年最快乐的日子就是在这个池塘里。
To the north of our village are great fields. When spring comes, the crops begin to grow, turning the fields green. When crops turn yellow in autumn, the peasants start to harvest them.

Between the canal and our village is an orchard. There were only a few kinds of fruit trees years ago, but now the peasants grow many sorts, including peach, plum, apple and orange.

By the end of last year, 35 students in our village had graduated from senior middle school, and 12 students were enrolled at colleges.

职业的选择 The Choice of Career
When students graduate from college, most of them choose to start their career. In general opinion, a college student should work on something that is related to their major, if not, what they learn is believed to be wasted. In my opinion, everyone has their right to choose what they want to do, regardless of other's criticism.
大部分学生从大学毕业后都会开始工作。在大家看来他们应该做一些与专业相关的工作，不然，他们所学到的知识就浪费掉了。在我看来，每个人都有权利去选择自己想做的事，不要在意别人的意见。
Recently, it has been reported that a student who graduated from first class university worked as a deliver guy. A lot of people felt pity for him, because they believed that this guy deserved a noble job, such as sitting in the office. While some people objected, they thought that every job was equal. There was no rule for people to decide what kind of job they should work on.

I believe that we should respect young people's choice. The job they work on doesn't mean they must use their major knowledge. The meaning of receiving education is to teach us to be a better person. Even though we choose to be a farmer, we are the different farmers, because we have better skill and more polite.

读研还是找工作 Attend Graduate School or Find a Job
It has always been a hot topic whether collegians should go on study at a graduate school or just find a job when they graduate. Some people think that students should broaden their knowledge circle and attend graduate school. Some hold that students should find a job to make a living. In my point of view, I'm for the former for I think student should keep on study to get more knowledge.
毕业以后是选择读研还是找工作一直都被人们热议。一些人认为学生应该继续读研来扩大他们的知识面。一些人认为学生应该找工作谋生。就我看来，我支持第一种观点，我认为学生应该继续学习来获取更多的知识。
To begin with, most students in college just have a comprehensive knowledge which is not professional, so they should keep on studying to become an expert in certain field. If they go to find a job after graduate, they may do a bad performance in the job because of the pertinency of the job. Therefore, students should attend graduate school after they graduate.
首先，学生在大学期间得到的知识是很笼统的，专业性并不强，所以他们应该继续学习来增强他们在某一领域的专业度。如果他们毕业后去找工作，由于工作的针对性，他们可能做不好工作。
Second, collegians can get a better paid job in the future if they attend graduate school. Generally, there are too many job seekers with bachelor's degree, so they are paid little when they find jobs at the first time. However, students with master's degree are paid more than the bachelor's degree when they find a job for the first time. Moreover, many companies prefer to hire students with a higher degree, so the master's degree holders will be the priority of recruiters compared with the bachelors.
其次，如果大学生继续读研，那么在将来会得到一份更好的工作。通常来说，求职者有大部分都是大学学历，所以大学生第一次找工作的时候得到的报酬很低。但是，那些有研究生学历的人在第一次找工作的时候得到的报酬会多一点儿。另外，许多的公司也愿意聘请那些高学历的人士，所以在找工作时候，有研究生学历的人会比仅有大学学历的人更受招聘者的青睐。
In conclusion, when students graduate, it is good for them to attend graduate school in order to become more professional in their area and get a better job in the future.
总之，学生毕业选择继续读研，不仅能增强他们的专业性，而且也能在将来找到一份更好的工作。
