提高英语发音的方法
1.学习弱读
为什么母语者讲话会那么快?因为他们经常会将句子中一些不重要的单词轻轻带过,也就是我们所说的“弱读”。
比如,for,正常读音为/fɔːɾ/,弱读形式为/fəɾ/.
Eg1. This is for the meeting on Monday.
Eg2. I am going to be late for class.
如果你预期听到的读音是/fɔːɾ/,而实际上你听到的却是/fəɾ/.那么你很可能就不会意识到它就是for.
2 学习连读
英语是一种十分连贯的语言,不像汉语发音讲究每个字每个词发音独立和清晰。英语母语者说起英语来像唱歌一样,前一个单词的结尾和后一个单词的开头经常会连起来发音,并且有自己的节奏在里面。很普遍的一个中式发音问题就是,许多人说英语跟说汉语一样,每个单词都被独立地说出来,听起来让人感觉很生硬。
我们总是觉得英语听力音频里语速太快,一个原因是他们会经常使用单词的弱读形式,另外一个原因就是连读了。举个简单的例子:Can I help you? 这里can 和I就可以练起来读。an apple, an 和apple的a也是可以连读。连读的形式多种多样,如果想练好英语口音的话还需要系统的学习。
3 学习语调(intonation)
另一个经常被英语学习者忽视的地方就是语调(intonation)了。Intonation describes how the voice rises and falls in speech. 语调就是指声音的升降了。你会不会觉得英语母语者说话自带一种节奏,就跟汉语中的抑扬顿挫一样。语调这种东西必须要多听多体会。比如当你问一个问题时,尤其是答案为yes或no的问题时,例如:Are you going to school today? 语调应该是上升的。
除此之外,还要注意每个单词的重音,比如economy, 重音在第二个音节;adjective,重音在第一个音节。而在每个句子中,不同单词的音调也有所不同,一般来说句子中单词重音在名词,动词,形容词等实词上,而非介词,连词等虚词。
4 听写练习
找一段30秒到1分钟的段音频,一句一句听写,第一遍没有听到的单词第二遍第三遍再去补齐,有时候你只听到了一个单词发音,但并不知道是哪个单词,也不知道如何拼写,你可以根据自己听到的声音大概地拼写一下。如此反复,直到你听出了所有的单词,或者你实在听不出某些单词了。
接下来对照文本,标出哪些你没有听出来的地方,然后,找出你为什么没有听出来的原因。是因为单词不认识?自己对这个单词的读音有错误?语速太快?没有意识到这个单词被弱读了或者跟前后的单词连读了?
找出原因之后在对症下药。继续听原音频,体会哪些你没有听出来的地方,一遍一遍,直到你熟悉那种发音模式。
网络上带文本的音频资源有很多,比如我们公众号每天推送的Diary of a wimpy kid就可以做为听写的入门材料。其他资源有TED talks,VOA, BBC, 并且这些资源都是分难度等级的,大家选择适合自己水平的材料就好。但是提醒大家:千万不要只囤资源,而不去学习!
