Module 4 Unit 2 Project: Entering a new sport to the Olympics

了解到这些信息后,要求学生完成本课的project: Making a speech—Entering a new sport into the Olympic Games。

  Teaching aims (Three demensions):

  1) Knowledge and skills:

  a. Getting information of how to enter a new sport into the Olympics.

  b. Consolidating the skills of making a speech.

  2) Process and methods:

  a. how to plan, preapare, produce and present the speech. b. adopting new study methods: exploration, cooperation and independent study.

  3) Emotions, attitudes and values: Getting the Ss to know some Chinese traditional sporting events and the culture in them.

Enterring a new sport into Olympics做铺垫。

As we all know, Wushu has a long history, and it has become more and more popular. It has succesdfully attracted people not only in China but in the whole world as well.

As people’s increasing interest for this sport, many Wushu associations have been set up in the countries of Asia, Europe, etc. Chinese Wushu has got the obvious features of being body-building and spirit-cleansing(净化精神), therefore it will improve the life quality of world people both physically and mentally. Furthermore, Wushu can also be considered a bridge to connect the eastern culture to the western one.

All stated above shows that Wushu is valuable and has been widespread enough to deserve the promotion as an event of the Olympics. It should be provided with a space in the field of the Olympics. Thank you for your listening.
