We’re all victims of occasional bouts of self-doubt, even the most successful, charismatic, confident among us have their moments of insecurity. Self-confidence can be a very delicate and complex thing. A few are born with it; others learn it early on and the rest of us have to learn to build it on our own.

Our confidence plays an important role in ability to achieve success and happiness. It affects our mental thought patterns, the way we speak, the way we act, and the decisions we make in all areas of our lives – career, money, relationships, and even our health. Confident people take more action, perform better, and are more likely to attain their goals. In addition, confident people also know how to take more enjoyment from their accomplishments are happier in general.

雅思阅读的两大瓶颈如何突破
雅思阅读瓶颈一:词汇
一般要想取得雅思6分以上的成绩(score),词汇量需在5000-6000左右。阅读跟写作(writing)、听力 (listening)不一样,只需了解单词对应的(respondent)中文解释即可。这需要高频率的接触单词和每天定时定量地记忆 (memorize)单词。比如你的准备时间是两个月,那么按照6000的词汇量,每天就必须要记100个单词。
方法是第一次完整记忆100个单词后,过个一刻钟进行第二遍的记忆。在记忆过程中将看、听、说结合(combination),过半小时再进行第三遍的记忆(memory),睡前再整体回忆一遍。大脑的记忆周期大概是一个星期,最好是每周将上周背诵(recite)的单词回顾一遍。日积月累,不仅阅读的词汇有提高(improvement),其他方面比如写作,口语和听力的词汇也会有大幅度的提升。
雅思阅读瓶颈二:提高做题速度(speed)。
建议学生在准备雅思的前期,看大量的原版的 (original)英文杂志。每天花半小时左右,挑感兴趣的(interested)文章在不使用词典的基础上通过快速扫描(scan)了解文章大概意思。这样做的目的(goal)主要克服(overcome)指读、回读和过度依赖字典的问题。
此外,考生做题时应限制(control)做题时间。理想的状态是每篇文章花20分钟左右,事实上在考试过程中很难达到这种满意的 (satisfied)程度(extent)。所以建议学生三篇阅读文章的时间分配分别是18、19、20分钟,留点时间做最后的检查(check)。在选择文章顺序(order)上可以把全部三篇文章的topic和话题都快速浏览一遍,选择话题熟悉的文章先做。
对于大部分考生来说,一般图表(chart)、表格(table)、简答(short answer)、选择题(choice)相对容易,所以应选择含有这些题型的文章先完成,最后再攻克其他题型。即使是在练习(exercise),时间一到也要停笔,这样可以帮助考生抓紧时间攻克简单题型,不把过多的时间放在太难的问题上。
