Some kids start to drink alcohol (酒精) at a young age. They think it is part of becoming an adult. They also think drinking is not that bad because so many people do it.They feel it is not as bad as taking drugs (毒品). It is easy for kids to get liquor(酒精饮料)by using fake identification (伪造证件).
Parents may start to notice a change in their child’s behavior if the child starts drinking. Kids who drink sometimes stop doing things they normally liked to do.They may keep telephone calls and meetings a secret and not want anybody to touch their things. They act moody(喜怒无常) and do not have the same eating and sleeping habits.
Parents need to stay involved (牵涉) in their kids’ lives. They should talk to their children about their problems to be aware of any changes.
Parents can be the best protection. Children who get a lot of love can feel good about themselves. It helps them resist(抵抗) doing bad things even when other kids are doing them. Parents can also help set a good example by not drinking and driving. They can have firm rules in the home that everyone follows.
Give the children good ideas on how to say “no” to drinking, even when they are at a party. Try not to overreact or panic (惊慌) if the child tries alcohol. How you handle it can affect their attitude. It may be helpful to talk to other parents about setting up curfews (宵禁令) and rules about parties or other events.

Are some people born clever, and others born stupid? Or is intelligence developed by our environment and our experiences? Strangely enough, the answer to both these questions is yes.To some degree our intelligence is given us at birth, and no amount of special education can make a genius out of a child born with low intelligence. On the other hand, a child who lives in a boring environment will develop his intelligence less than one who lives in rich and varied surroundings. Thus the limits of a person's intelligence are fixed at birth, but whether or not he reaches those limits will depend on his environment. This view, now held by most experts, can be supported in a number of ways.
It is easy to show that intelligence is to some degree something we are born with. The closer the blood relationship between two people, the closer they are likely to be in intelligence. Thus if we take two unrelated people at random(随机地) from the population, it is likely that their degrees of intelligence will be completely different. If on the other hand we take two identical (完全相同的) twins they will very likely be as intelligent as each other.Relations like brothers and sisters, parents and children, usually have similar intelligence, and this clearly suggests that intelligence depends on birth.
Imagine now that we take two identical twins and put them in different environments. We might send one, for example, to a university and the other to a factory where the work is boring. We would soon find differences in intelligence developing, and this indicates that environment as well as birth plays a part. This conclusion is also suggested by the fact that people who live in close contact with each other, but who are not related at all, are likely to have similar degrees of intelligence.
50.Which of these sentences best describes the writer’s point in Para.1?
A.To some degree, intelligence is given at birth.
B.Intelligence is developed by the environment.
C.Some people are born clever and others born stupid.
D.Intelligence is fixed at birth, but is developed by the environment.
51.It is suggested in this passage that_______.
A.unrelated people are not likely to have different intelligence
B.close relations usually have similar intelligence
C.the closer the blood relationship between people, the more different they are likely to be in intelligence
D.people who live in close contact with each other are not likely to have similar degrees of intelligence

Are you happy? Do you remember a time when you were happy? Are you seeking happiness today?
Many have sought a variety of sources for their feelings of happiness. Some have put their hearts and efforts into their work.Too many have turned to drugs and alcohol.Meanwhile, untold numbers have looked for it in the possession of expensive cars, exotic(异国的) vacation homes and other popular “toys”.Most of their efforts have a root in one common fact: people are looking for a lasting source of happiness.
Unfortunately, I believe that happiness escapes from many people because they misunderstand the journey of finding it.I have heard many people say that, “I’ll be happy when I get my new promotion.” Or “I’ll be happy when I lose that extra 20 pounds.” It is dangerous because it accepts that happiness is a “response” to having, being or doing something.
In life, we all experience stimulus(激励) and response.Today, some people think that an expensive car is a stimulus, and happiness is a response; a great paying job is a stimulus, and happiness is a response; a loving relationship is a stimulus, and happiness is a response. This belief leaves us the thinking and feeling: I’ll be happy when …
It has been my finding that actually the opposite is true.I believe that happiness is a stimulus and a response is what life brings to those who are truly happy. When we are happy, we tend to have more success in our work. When we are happy, people want to be around us and enjoy loving relationships. When we are happy, we more naturally take better care of our bodies and enjoy good health.Happiness is not a response but a stimulus.
Happiness is a conscious choice we make every day of our lives. For unknown reason to me, many choose to be painful, unsuccessful and angry most of the time.Happiness is not something that happens to us after we get something we want--we usually get things we want AFTER we choose to be happy.
57.From the second paragraph, we know too many people ______________.
A.are not happy when they work hard
B.are not happy when they drink or take drugs
C.are happy when they possess their own expensive cars
D.all desire exotic vacation homes
58.Generally speaking, most people feel happy because ______________.
A.they think happiness is rooted in their deep hearts
B.they get what they want to have
C.they get a great paying job
D.they get an expensive car
59.Which of the following is right according to the author?
A.If you want to get what you want, you first choose to be happy.
B.We should try to get more and then we’ll be happy.
C.Most people today are happy.
D.Work is a necessary part in our daily life
60.From the viewpoint of the author, happiness is _______________.
A.based on our needs B.unconditional
C.out of reach D.limited

People have expressed themselves thrugh the movements, steps, and rhythms of dance since the beginning of time. They have prayed and celebrated their victories through dance. People have mourned their dead and healed their sick through dance, the language of the body.
62.
Today there are many kinds of dancing. For example, there is folk dancing, ballet dancing, and modern dancing. Modern dance, which began in the early 1900s, is a very expressionistic dance. Modern dancers follow no set pattern. Rather, they create their own movements to match the feeling they are trying to express. But modern dance means more than just selt-expression.
63.
Martha Graham is one of the world’s greatest modern dancers. As a young dancer, she studied with some of the founders of the modern dance movement. Influnced by many different kinds of dancing, Martha Graham developed her own personal dance style. She later formed her own dance company and school in the New York City. The following are some of her feelings about her art.
64.
The modern dancer’s costume is an important part of his or her dance. There is always some reason why a dance costume should be a certain color or an outfit cut in a certain way. The reason comes out of the dance itself. Unlike a ballet costume, a modern dance costume is left of the dancers’ art except the pictures and the memories.
65.
Dances come from something deep within a person. That something cannot be expressed with words--- it must be told through movement. Because dance expresses emotions, it affects the mind and the body. Dance should not be taken apart interpreted-dance must be experienced.
