I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to study in the United States as an international student from Ukraine when I was fourteen years old, which was eight years ago. I went to a wonderful school, West Catholic High School, for my freshman year.

I remember my first day at that school as if it was yesterday. I was very nervous. My main fear was that I would not be able to express myself due to language barrier. I was trying to have as little communication as I possibly could. And I almost succeeded until we had to introduce ourselves in front of the class.

And the moment the word "international" flew out of my mouth I was surrounded by thirty people who were asking questions one after another. It turned out to be the opposite of less communication, but it was so much fun.

During the first three months, I definitely experienced a little bit of cultural shock. I think

Americans are the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life. They always smile and say, "Hi, how are you ?"

One day, I noticed the students looking at me suspiciously. Finally, my classmate came up to my locker and whispered, "Is that true that you are a princess and that you came to study here so that nobody would recognize you?" At one point, I even had an image of myself wearing a gown and gracefully waving at the crowd.

Believe it or not, handwriting is one of the ways that can describe your personality as well as telling about a person's history for the simple fact that it can map someone's past. According to Ruth Gardner, author of Instant Handwriting Analysis, someone's way of writing can reflect their thoughts and attitudes, even if they try to manipulate their handwriting.

Doctor Fouad Asaad,a handwriting expert, said that the way a person writes his/her name and personal information can show his/her skills and foresee what could happen to that person in the future, like illnesses.

He also mentioned that reading a person's handwriting can recognize a person's personality and ambition. For example, in some companies of Europe and America, employees are employed

according to their handwriting because it is a way to identify their personalities just like interviews. By analyzing a person's handwriting, experts can decide if the person is aggressive, elegant, optimistic or lazy.

According to handwriting experts, people w. ho leave small spaces between words are talkative and hotheaded whereas people who leave large spaces are cautious and cultured. Also, people who write small letters care about specific details.

Moreover, when people try to improve their handwriting, they can change their behavior and, therefore, it strongly affects their personalities. For example, when children improve their

  handwriting, they become more talented, calm and patient.. It is one of the effective ways which can be used on self-development;

Handwriting experts have analyzed some celebrities' handwriting. For instance, American

ex-president Bill Clinton has small handwriting which indicates his intelligence and high

I had my yearly Angelic Blueprint reading done the other day and was reminded that in my chart, I had what was called "The Yes Gate". The positive side of "The Yes Gate" is that it is loaded with Enthusiasm!

However, the shadow side of "The Yes Gate" is having the tendency to say "Yes" to everything without stopping and recognizing whether or not you are taking on more than you can chew.

So as I settled down and mentally went back to my reading and what was said about my strengths, my gifts, and some cautionary areas to pay attention to, I recognized how I had gotten more aware of not taking on more than I was designed to handle at one time!

I am not one of those people who are able to pile on project after project, never feeling overloaded, and completing al! in a timely manner.

I recently responded "Yes" to a friend's request to attend a conference, knowing it could offer me lots of in formation and benefits. When she followed up with me, I stepped back for a moment and then graciously(优雅地) had to decline to participate this time around, recognizing that tendency to take on more than I can chew only to later find my self "burning out'.

So as I think back on this, I realize I was listening to my own common sense. I was avoiding the "shadow side" of "The Yes Gate".

I've also learned I can use my Yes Gate to help my clients without me doing all the work for them ---helping them say yes when it's best for them and helping them to recognize when it might be best to wait.

Where are you saying "Yes" without really recognizing whether or not you are overextending yourself'? We all are supermen & superwomen in our own right, and yet there are times when we take on too much but have too low abilities!

Let's say "Yes" to the things we know we can do, And honor ourselves enough to step back and decline a situation when it suits us as well!

  33. What reminded the writer that he had what was called "The Yes Gate"9

  A. Reading yearly Angelic Blueprint.

  B. the enthusiasm for life.

  C. The attitude to life.

  D. The effect the enthusiasm had on him.

  34. What was it that drove the writer to respond "Yes" to a friend's request?

  A. The positive side of "The Yes Gate--:

  B. Both sides of "The Yes Gate".

  C. The shadow side of "The Yes Gate".

  D. The desire for getting lots of benefits.

  35. From the passage, we can know .

  A. The writer is for avoiding the“shadow side" of" The Yes Gate"

  B. The writer is a person who can pile on project after project

  C. The writer is against using "The Yes Gate" to help his clients

  D. The writer is a person with high aspirations and low abilities

In the digital age, copying someone else's words is easy, but getting caught copying is even easier. When Melania Trump recently spoke at the Republican convention, she used some of the same words that Michelle Obama had used at the Democratic convention in 2008. Within hours, news spread around the world with the claim that Melania Trump had plagiarized Michelle Obama's speech. Students and teachers at universities in the U. S. and elsewhere were shocked. 36

  What is plagiarism?

37 That person could also be called a "literary thief' or a" plagiarist'.

Why is plagiarism a serious problem?

It's our own worst fear, to have that thing that we created stolen from us, and it's the same as our words. That d:ung that we created is essential to who we are. 38 Academics are especially aware of the nature of plagiarism because their work is essentially the creation of ideas and putting them into words.

  39

One of the possible punishments for' plagiarism at U. S. universities is dismissal from the school. Students may fail a course or be given a letter of censure(谴责)that stays on their school record, Professors or researchers who plagiarize may damage or end their careers.

  Plagiarism is easy to find

Before the digital age we live in, plagiarizing was harder. You had to write out the words you copied. But now anything can be copied and pasted. In. the past, teachers would have to work hard to prove that work was copied. 40 The plagiarism checking software programs used by many students and universities include Turnitin, Grammarly, Duplichecker, and I Thenticate. Nobody is going to get away with it.

  A. How to avoid plagiarism

  B. Consequences of plagiarism

  C. Stealing our words is as serious as if stealing our child.

  D. Nowadays, some software programs w:ill help you avoid plagiarism

  E. Plagiarism is to copy someone else's written work without giving them credit.

  F. But nowadays, all you have to do is run a paper through a plagiarism detection software.

  G. They learn from their early years in school that copying another writers words is wrong.
