Some people think parents should read or tell stories to children. Others think parents needn’t do that as children can read books or watch TV, movies by themselves. Discuss the both views and give your own opinion.
Parents reading to children has long been practiced in the history in every culture. The universal aim, of course, is to help children with their early education. Nowadays, the advancement of technologies enables children to get access to information not only from books, but also from Internet and other media. Is it right for parents to read to their children or should children spend more time to search for answer themselves on the Internet? I’m now going to discuss both views and provide my opinion on it.
Some educators believe that children should be guided by parents when reading since they have low level of vocabulary and understanding ability. Children are likely to encounter many unfamiliar word sand concepts in their reading, and it is the responsibility of parents to explain to children and support them in their learning progress. For instance, a 5-year-old child may come across many words that he has never seen before when the first time he reads Harry Potter. Thus by being a listener, they can enhance their understanding of the story line. Moreover, children need to be aware of the danger of being exposed to any inappropriate books. Sadly, as we all are aware, not all books are great for children. For example, some books contain strong contents of adult material, such as pornography and violent concepts, which are very ill advised for children to read.
On the other hand, many other people believe the youths should read various resources themselves. This is firstly because children will learn more and understand knowledge on a deeper level if they are able to find the answers for themselves. For example, when they encounter words which they have not seen before, but by researching it online, they can find the answers for themselves, so they do not need to ask parents for help. Often, this can help children to remember the word in a longer period comparing simply being told the answer. Additionally, reading the material online can encourage children to develop independent thinking skill. Parents’ answers are not always right, and they cannot always be there to respond when children are stuck. Therefore, it is important for children to develop the skills to search for answers themselves when they are unsure. This is especially the case when they go to a university, where it runs on independent learning. This is why children should early on, being encouraged to find useful resources themselves and not relies on their parents for it.
In my view, parents have paramount importance in children's education, and this can often be achieved by simple means such as reading to or being together with children. However, at the same time, parents should also be cautious not to do this excessively as it can destroy children's independent learning. Therefore, efforts should also be made to encourage them to find answers for themselves. That means to achieve a successful education, a balanced approach of both methods should be employed.

In the past, it was inconvenient for individuals to contact others if they were far from each other and letter writing might be the only method of long distance communication. However, telecommunications in the current era allow people to communicate with anyone through telephones or internet. Thus, technologies actually facilitate communications, connecting people to each other.
In addition, technology reduces labor intensity greatly. Decades ago, it was common that workers needed to do a lot of labor-intensive work repeatedly and housewives needed to spend several hours on domestic affairs. In contrast, automatic assembly line serves to liberate workers from such hard work and modern appliances could shorten the time of doing housework every day. As a result, modern life becomes simpler since individuals can avoid meaningless work and spare more time on other parts of life.
Admittedly, some opponents may believe that their work has become more complex due to modern technology because they need to adopt some new systems, such as those Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, which waste extra time and are not friendly to users, especially old users. However, they are neglecting the potential benefits and convenience brought by modern technology. The fact is that enterprises could better manage their resources with the use of ERP systems, which contributes to regulating enterprises more scientifically. Besides, enterprises will also provide their employees with guideline for new systems, and many employees refuse to use new systems just because they are too lazy to change themselves, which cannot be a reasonable excuse for denying technologies.
To sum up, life is not complex with technology and human beings should embrace technology, considering that technology offers humans convenient ways of communication and reduces labor intensity.

Because the vivid images and pictures have told them everything what they desire to know. Sadly, this seriously stifles their imagination.
Apart from that, I support books to be more beneficial in assisting people to improve language skills on the grounds that most words on the books are characterized by more formal and standard. Accordingly, books create an affinity with human readers, who can mark and underline important words and sentences. Thereby, a mastery of a foreign language is becoming natural and spontaneous. By contrast, based on the "trait of entertainment " of TV, a host of programs' language on the screen is comparatively oral and nonstandard, which is not conductive to acquiring a new foreign language.
To sum up, despite the claim that TV offers modern population a wide variety of options of gaining knowledge, books are more mentally stimulating and plays a vital role in bettering themselves in terms of training imagination and developing language skills.
